You better believe it — the real estate market is back. It’s time to buy again, and here are the 10 cities with the most affordable homes, according to a new report from Deutsche Bank, published March 29th 2011 by Forbes magazine.(Deutsche Bank’s study measures affordability in two ways: the share of income that Americans are paying to own a home, and the cost of owning vs. renting.)By Daniel Roberts, reporter

Many of the cities on this list now have the most affordable housing simply because their real estate crashes were so much more pronounced than elsewhere in the nation. The farther the prices fall, the sooner it inevitably becomes more affordable to buy rather than rent.

Atlanta is no exception. It tops the list with average monthly rent of about 50% more than the average after-tax mortgage payment. The metropolitan area had the dubious distinction of leading the nation in home construction during most of the decade before the bubble burst. Despite the fact that it now has the most affordable homes in the nation, however, prices continue to slide in Atlanta — down nearly 14% year-over-year in February. When will those Atlanta renters recognize the clearance sale going on all around them?

Villa Rica Farmer’s Market is BACK!

Local Farmers Market returns this Wednesday May 18th

 

The West GA city of Villa Rica is a great place to live. It is a direct shot on I-20 West from Atlanta. It offers the perfect mix of city and country pleasures.This time of year is especially nice because the farmers market will be back in town.

 

We are glad to welcome back The Market at the Mill, Farmers Market. Beginning May 18th through September 28th, the Downtown Development Authority will host this highly popular, new farmers’ market located right in the heart of downtown Villa Rica.

 

It began last year, and news of this grocery shopping opportunity spread quick. Every Wednesday from 4PM – 7PM, local farmers bring fresh produce from their own gardens to sell. It was wildly popular because of prices and food variety. Expect to find homegrown fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs, eggs and a wide assortment of other goodies as well. There are baked goods, jellies, jams, honey, fried pies, - all with no preservatives.

 

Shopping at the market is a catalyst for living a healthy life, and it helps promote the local farmers and gardeners. It is also a great way to mingle in the community and meet your neighbors. Plus, isn’t it nice knowing where your fresh produce comes from. You can also place special orders with some of the vendors. Looking for a certain type of tomato that you just can’t find at the  grocery store – well look no more. Someone is bound to have it or direct you to where to find it.

 

The days of buying strawberries from the grocer, that inevitably go bad in one day, are over for now. Come down to The Mill Amphitheater in Downtown Villa Rica and shop at The Market at The Mill. It is open weekly on Wednesdays thru late September. You are bound to find something unique, healthy, fresh and plain tastes good.
